On the corner of 6th & Main, Local is Lafayette’s newest experiment in bringing fresh ideas to life. Two 500 sq ft white-box storefronts are ready for retailers, makers, and creators who want to test, launch, or grow. Rent the space for 30 days, set up shop, and see what happens when your concept meets real customers. Whether it’s a limited-edition drop, a creative collab, or your first big leap from online to IRL, Local gives you the keys (literally) to try it out without the long-term commitment.
Brought to life by the Downtown Lafayette Business Owners Association, MatchBOX Studios, and the City of Lafayette with extra love from The Heartland Concept and Indiana Economic Development Corporation, Local is here to make downtown a little more surprising.

Who is Local for?
Popping up at Local is for anyone with a retail-ready idea and a spark to share it. Makers, artists, small-batch producers, market vendors, online brands, startups, or creative collaborations — if you sell directly to customers (B2C), we want to see what you’ve got.
How long can I rent the space?
Each Local residency lasts approximately 30 days, with additional days for setup and tear down. You’ll get the keys, set up shop, and have a full month to bring your idea to life. Test, learn, sell, repeat. After that, we make room for the next big thing.
How big are the spaces?
Each space is about 500–600 square feet and includes a restroom. They’re clean, white-boxed, and ready for your brand’s personality to take over. Think flexible, not fancy. Local is perfect for creating your own vibe.
How much is rent & what’s included?
Rates are designed to be affordable for early-stage entrepreneurs, at $10/sq ft. Rent covers your 30-day lease, basic utilities, business coaching, and marketing support. You bring the concept, design, and product. We offer access to some shared furniture, but you’ll likely need and want to supplement with your own.
Can multiple businesses share Local?
Absolutely. Joint concepts and collabs are encouraged! Just make sure your application includes details about how you’ll share the space and co-brand the experience, and iron out all of the details of your partnership with your co-applicants before applying.
Do I need to carry insurance?
Yes — we require proof of general liability insurance before move-in. (If you’re new to retail and not sure how to get it, we’ll point you to some friendly local agents who can help.)
